Parc Natural del Delta de l’Ebre

For Mother’s Day this year, we decided to explore some of the Spanish coast. We drove about 45 minutes north to a Nature reserve. We wound through rice patties–and no, it never dawned on me that Spain grew rice…but then again, where else would Spanish rice get its name? So–we learned something new!

We also got to see wild flamingos, from a distance, of course. I will be honest…they don’t smell as bad in the wild! And yet again, we learned something new…that there are indeed wild flamingos living in Spain. Who would have thought?

It was a very windy day, so our time was not very long at this beautiful soft-sanded beach. We did get to see some interesting birds, I had some fun messing around with my camera, my son and husband got to play a game of catch, and the kids found some really fun shells.
